Privacy policy
MattressPriceCheck is a price comparison site. You do not need an account to use it, and we try to collect as little as possible about you.
Who is responsible
MattressPriceCheck is operated by BSB Digital Ventures Ltd, the data controller for this site. Our registered contact details will be published on the contact page once the site is live.
What we collect
- Comparison shortlist. The mattresses you add to a comparison are stored in your own browser, not on our servers.
- Retailer link clicks. When you follow a link to a retailer we record which mattress, size and retailer was involved, the page it came from, and whether the device was mobile or desktop. We do not store your name, email or IP address alongside it.
- Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information, including IP address, for security and to keep the site running.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us we keep your message and reply.
We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising trackers or profiling.
Why we are allowed to use it
For the click records and technical logs we rely on legitimate interests: we need to know which comparisons are useful, and our retailer partners need to be able to reconcile referrals. For anything requiring your consent, such as non-essential cookies, we ask first, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
Retailer and affiliate partners
When you follow a link to a retailer, that retailer and its affiliate network can set their own cookies and see that the visit came from us. What they then do is covered by their own privacy policies, not this one. We receive only aggregate reporting: how many clicks and orders came from our links, never who you are or what else you bought. See our affiliate disclosure and cookie policy.
How long we keep things
Click records are kept for up to 24 months so we can compare year-on-year demand, then deleted or reduced to totals. Technical logs are short-lived. Messages are kept while the enquiry is open and for a reasonable period afterwards.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Because we deliberately avoid storing identifying information, we often hold nothing linked to an individual. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Children
This site is aimed at adults buying household goods and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will say so on this page. The site is currently in build and shows clearly labelled example prices, so no live retailer tracking is active yet.
